Indications

  • Upper respiratory tract infections including sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, laryngo-tracheo bronchitis, and otitis media
  • Lower respiratory tract infections including bronchitis (acute and chronic), lobar pneumonia, and bronchopneumonia
  • Urinary tract infections including cystitis, urethritis, and pyelonephritis
  • Skin and soft tissue infections including abscess, cellulitis, furunculosis, and impetigo

Pharmacology

  • Cephradine is a semisynthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
  • Active against infections caused by both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms
  • Inhibition of cross-linking process in the cell wall of bacteria leading to lysis

Dosage & Administration

  • Oral administration for adults and children
  • Injectable administration for adults and children
  • Dosage adjustments for elderly and patients with impaired renal or hepatic function

Interaction

  • Concomitant use of nephrotoxic drugs increase the risk of kidney damage

Contraindications

Use in Special Populations

Storage Conditions

  • Suspension should be freshly prepared
  • Reconstituted Suspension should be used within 7-14 days depending on storage temperature
  • Injection solutions should be used within 2 hours when kept at room temperature, and 12 hours when stored at 5°C
  • Do not use later than the date of expiry
  • To be dispensed only on the prescription of a registered physician
