Indications

• Intra Uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR)
• Threatened abortion
• Habitual abortion
• Threatened premature delivery

Description

• Oral Gestagen
• Pregnancy-maintaining action
• No hormonal side-effects
• Stimulates endocrine function of the trophoblast
• Stimulates placenta to produce more progesterone
• Restores abnormally low levels of placental hormones and specific enzymes
• Well tolerated
• No observed important side-effects

Pharmacology

• Weak progestational effect on human endometrium
• Stimulates synthesis of progesterone in the human placenta
• Increases production of specific placental enzymes
• Histological and histochemical changes indicating increased activity in the placenta
• Suppression of spontaneous uterine contractions
• No estrogenic or androgenic properties
• No adverse effects on adrenal function
• No abnormal liver function tests or water and salt retention observed in healthy female volunteers

Contraindications

• Breast Cancer or history of breast problems
