Pharmacology
Inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, increases hepatic LDL receptors, inhibits hepatic synthesis of VLDL
Dosage & Administration
- Usual dose range 5-20 mg/day
- Maximum recommended dose 20 mg/day
- Dose individualized as per goal of therapy
- Asian Patients initiation with 5 mg once daily
- Severe renal impairment dosing
- Interaction with other drugs
Interaction
- Cyclosporine
- Gemfibrosil
- Lopinavir/Ritonavir or atazanavir/ritonavir
- Coumarin anticoagulants
- Concomitant lipid-lowering therapies

- Known hypersensitivity to product components
- Liver disease
- Pregnant women
- Nursing mothers

- Temporarily withheld in acute, serious conditions
