Indications
- Essential hypertension
- Stable coronary artery disease
- Congestive heart failure
Pharmacology
- ACE inhibitor
- Angiotensin Converting Enzyme
- Angiotensin II
- Blood pressure control
Dosage & Administration
- Hypertension dosage: 4mg tablet once daily in the morning
- Coronary artery disease dosage: 4mg daily for two weeks, then increased to 8mg daily
- Heart failure dosage: Start at 2mg daily, may increase to 4mg
Interaction
- May enhance hypotensive effect with diuretics
- Additive hyperkalaemic effect with certain drugs
- May increase serum levels and toxicity of lithium
- Antihypertensive effect may be reduced by aspirin or other NSAIDs
- Increased risk of hypoglycaemia with antidiabetic agents
