Indications
Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin & soft tissue infections
Description
Acid-stable and semi-synthetic oral cephalosporin
Pharmacology
Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins
Dosage & Administration
Adult dosage for pharyngitis and tonsillitis: 1g per day in one or two divided doses; Pediatric dosage: 30mg/kg daily in divided doses
Interaction
No significant drug interaction with other drugs
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Cefadroxil
Side Effects
Common side effects are gastrointestinal disturbances and hypersensitivity phenomena
Pregnancy & Lactation
US FDA pregnancy category B; Caution during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
May cause pseudomembranous colitis; caution during diagnosis in patients who develop diarrhea
