Indications

  • Treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy in women who do not respond to conservative management

Pharmacology

  • Doxylamine Succinate is an antihistamine that blocks Histamine (H1) receptor
  • Pyridoxine Hydrochloride is a vitamin B6 analog with antiemetic properties

Dosage & Administration

  • Initial dose of one tablet orally at bedtime
  • Maximum recommended dose of two tablets per day
  • Take on an empty stomach with a glass of water

Interaction

  • Contraindicated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
  • Not recommended with alcohol and other CNS depressants

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to the ingredients
  • Contraindicated with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors

Side Effects

  • Somnolence or accidents with CNS depressants

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Pregnancy category A
  • Excreted into breast milk, caution needed while breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

  • May cause somnolence, avoid driving or operating heavy machinery
  • Use with caution in women with asthma, increased intraocular pressure, narrow angle glaucoma, etc.

Overdose Effects

  • Signs and symptoms of overdose may include restlessness, dryness of mouth, dilated pupils, sleepiness, vertigo, mental confusion, and tachycardia
  • At toxic doses, exhibits anticholinergic effects, including seizures, rhabdomyolysis, and acute renal failure
