Pharmacology
- Non-peptide angiotensin-ll receptor antagonist
- Blockage of vasoconstrictor and aldosterone secreting effects of angiotensin-ll
- Selective blockade of AT1 receptor
- Independent action of angiotensin-ll synthesis pathways
Dosage & Administration
- Individualized dosage
- Starting dose of 40 mg once a day
- Dose-related blood pressure response
- Usual range of 20 to 80 mg
- Maximal reduction after 4 weeks
- Administered with or without food
- Caution in pediatric use
- Recommended monitoring in geriatric and hepatic impairment
- No initial dosage adjustment for elderly or renal impairment patients
Interaction
- Increased risk with NSAIDS
- Avoid co-administration with aliskiren in diabetic patients

- Hypersensitivity to product or components
