Iventi-D 0.5%+0.1% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of eye infections
• Prevention of inflammation after eye surgery

Composition

• Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg per ml
• Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg per ml

Pharmacology

• Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and topoisomerase IV
• Dexamethasone is anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day
• Different dosages for prevention of infection, post-surgical ocular inflammation, cataract surgery, and LASIK refractive surgery

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to quinolones or any components of the product
• Glaucoma or ocular disease causing thinning of the cornea or sclera
• Eye inflammation caused by virus, fungi, or mycobacteria

Side Effects

• Moxifloxacin: Conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye
• Dexamethasone: Visual acuity & field defects, cataract formation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
• Caution advised when used by nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
• Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension or glaucoma

Use in Special Populations

• No change in dosage required for elderly patients
• Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients
