Indications

  • Treatment of moderate to severe symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)
  • Reduction in the risk of acute urinary retention and surgery in patients with moderate to severe symptoms of BPH

Pharmacology

  • Tamsulosin affects dynamic component of BPH by inhibiting alpha<sub>1</sub>-adrenoreceptors
  • Dutasteride affects static component of BPH by inhibiting conversion of Testosterone to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT)

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose: Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg & Dutasteride 0.5 mg
  • Swallow capsules whole, not chewed or opened

Interaction

  • No formal drug interaction studies with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors
  • Long-term combination with potent CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase serum concentrations of Dutasteride

Contraindications

  • Contra-indicated in women, children, patients with hypersensitivity to Dutasteride or Tamsulosin, soya, peanut or any excipients
