Description
- This medicine is indicated for the treatment of nausea and vomiting of pregnancy in women who do not respond to conservative management.
- It contains Doxylamine Succinate, an antihistamine that blocks Histamine (H1) receptor, and Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, a vitamin B6 analog used to prevent nausea and vomiting due to its antiemetic properties.
Dosage & Administration
- Initial dose is one tablet orally at bedtime. If symptoms persist, the daily dose can be increased to one tablet in the morning and one at bedtime. The maximum recommended dose is two tablets per day, one in the morning and one at bedtime. Should be taken on an empty stomach with a glass of water, whole and not crushed, chewed, or split.
Interaction
- Contraindicated in women taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or concurrent alcohol and other CNS depressants like hypnotic sedatives and tranquilizers.
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in women with known hypersensitivity to Doxylamine Succinate, other ethanolamine derivative antihistamines, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, or any inactive ingredient in the formulation. Also contraindicated in women taking MAO inhibitors.
Side Effects
- May cause somnolence or accidents when used with CNS depressants.

- Pregnancy category A. Caution should be exercised while breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause somnolence. Avoid activities such as driving or operating heavy machinery. Not recommended if concurrently using central nervous system (CNS) depressants including alcohol. Should be used with caution in women with asthma, increased intraocular pressure, narrow angle glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, pyloroduodenal obstruction, or urinary bladder-neck obstruction.
Overdose Effects
- Signs and symptoms of intoxication may not be immediately apparent due to its extended-release or Delayed Release formulation. At toxic doses, may exhibit anticholinergic effects, including seizures, rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure, and death. If needed, treatment may include gastric lavage or activated charcoal, whole bowel irrigation, and symptomatic treatment.
