Indications
- Seasonal and Perennial Allergic Rhinitis
- Chronic Idiopathic Urticaria
Pharmacology
- Long-acting and selective H1-histamine receptor antagonist
- Rapid absorption
- Extensive first-pass metabolism
- Conversion to active acid metabolite (carebastine)
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 10 mg (one tablet) once daily
- Children (6-12 years): 5 mg (half tablet) once daily
- Children (2-5 years): 2.5 ml once daily (up to 5 ml in severe cases)
- Children (6-12 years): 5 ml once daily (up to 10 ml in severe cases)
- May be taken with or without food
Interaction
- Increased plasma level with ketoconazole or erythromycin
- Prolonged QTc interval
- No interaction with theophylline, warfarin, cimetidine, diazepam, or alcohol
- Enhanced sedative effect with alcohol and diazepam
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Ebastine or any of its ingredients

Overdose Effects
- No clinically meaningful signs or symptoms observed up to 100 mg
- No specific antidote
- Gastric lavage and symptomatic treatment for accidental overdoses
