Description
Fabetor 90 mg Tablet is a selective COX-2 inhibitor indicated for the symptomatic relief of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis, and moderate pain associated with dental surgery. It is orally active and decreases clinical signs and symptoms with decreased potential for gastrointestinal toxicity and effects on platelet aggregation.

Pharmacology
Etoricoxib is a potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor that decreases clinical signs and symptoms without inhibiting COX-1, primarily responsible for pain, inflammation, and fever.
Dosage and administration
- Osteoarthritis: 30 mg once daily, increased to 60 mg if needed
- Rheumatoid arthritis: 90 mg once daily
- Ankylosing spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
- Acute gouty arthritis: 120 mg once daily for 8 days
- Postoperative dental surgery pain: 90 mg once daily, maximum of 3 days
Interactions
- Medicine:
- Oral anticoagulants
- Diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and Angiotensin II Antagonists
- Acetylsalicylic Acid
- Ciclosporin and tacrolimus
- Lithium
- Food and others: Take without regards to meals
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic or renal dysfunction
- Children and adolescents under 16 years of age
- Inflammatory bowel disease
- Congestive heart failure
- Uncontrolled hypertension
- Established cardiovascular diseases

Pregnancy and lactation

Precautions and warnings
- NSAID risk: Elderly and prior history of gastrointestinal disease
- Cardiovascular risk: Patients with significant risk factors for cardiovascular events
- Renal function: Monitoring of renal function
- Cardiac conditions: History of cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, or hypertension
- Liver monitoring: Monitoring liver function, discontinue if signs of hepatic insufficiency occur
- Hypersensitivity occurrence: Discontinue at the first appearance of hypersensitivity signs
- Other concerns: May mask fever and signs of inflammation
Overdose effects
Administration of single doses up to 500 mg and multiple doses up to 150 mg/day did not result in significant toxicity
