Ezykof (30 mg+100 mg+1.25 mg)/5 ml (Syrup)

Indications

• Symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders
• Productive cough relief
• Nasal decongestant
• Histamine H1 receptor antagonist
• Expectorant combination

Pharmacology

• Pseudoephedrine as decongestant and bronchodilator
• Alpha and Beta-adrenergic receptor agonist
• Vasoconstriction via direct stimulation
• Guaifenesin as expectorant reducing sputum viscosity
• Increase hydration of respiratory tract
• Triprolidine as antihistamine for hypersensitivity relief

Dosage & Administration

• Adult dosage: 10 ml three times a day
• Children 6-12 years dosage: 5 ml three times a day
• Children 2-5 years dosage: 2.5 ml three times a day
• Prefer physician's advice for children under 2 years

Interaction

• Concomitant use with sympathomimetic agents
• Potential rise in blood pressure
• Partial reversal of hypotensive action

Contraindications

• Known hypersensitivity to constituents
• Cardiovascular disease including hypertension
• Asthma
• Monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) therapy

• CNS depression or excitation
• Drowsiness
• Sleep disturbances
• Hallucinations
• Skin rashes
• Tachycardia
• Dryness of mouth, nose and throat

• Caution advised due to lack of specific data on use during pregnancy

Precautions & Warnings

• May cause drowsiness
• Avoid driving or operating machinery if affected
• Avoid alcohol or centrally acting sedatives
• Caution in patients with hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, hyperthyroidism
• Not for persistent or chronic cough without physician's direction
