- Ramipril is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor

Interactions
- Concomitant administration with diuretics may lead to serious hypotension
- Concomitant therapy with lithium may increase serum lithium concentration
- NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effect and cause deterioration of renal function
- Reduction in blood pressure may affect the ability to drive and operate machinery
- Interaction with alcohol
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ramipril or any other ACE inhibitor
- History of angioedema
- Concomitant therapy with sacubitril/valsartan
- Hypotensive or haemodynamically unstable states
- Pregnancy
- Hemodynamically relevant renal artery stenosis
- Use of aliskiren-containing medicines in patients with diabetes or with moderate to severe renal impairment
- Use of angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AIIRAs) in patients with diabetic nephropathy

Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function, hyperkalemia, hypotension, and impaired hepatic function
Use in Special Populations
- Reduced initial dose for elderly patients
- Initiation in patients with hepatic impairment must be under close medical supervision
- Initiation in patients with renal impairment must be titrated according to individual tolerance and response
- Consideration for discontinuing diuretic in patients pretreated with a diuretic
Overdose Effects
- Excessive peripheral vasodilatation
- Marked hypotension
- Shock
- Bradycardia
- Electrolyte disturbances
- Renal failure
- Management through detoxification and administration of adrenergic agonists or angiotensin II
- Volume and salt substitution
