Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended oral dose for adults: 10-20 mg every 6-8 hours daily
  • Recommended oral dose for children: 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight
  • Recommended rectal dose for adults: 30-60 mg every 4-8 hours

Indications

  • Dyspeptic symptom complex relief
  • Acute nausea and vomiting treatment
  • Treatment of nausea and vomiting induced by radiotherapy or drug therapy

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to Domperidone
  • Neonates
  • Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
  • Mechanical obstruction or perforation
  • Prolactin releasing pituitary tumor

Side Effects

  • Transient intestinal cramps
  • Extrapyramidal phenomena
  • Increase in plasma prolactin level
  • Rare allergic reactions such as rash and urticaria

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Should be used with caution during the first trimester of pregnancy
  • Excreted in breast milk of lactating rats
  • Not recommended for nursing mothers
