Indications
- Treatment of elevated intraocular pressure
- For patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of carbonic anhydrase
- Decreases aqueous humor secretion
- Reduction in intraocular pressure
Dosage & Administration
- Shake well before use
- 1 drop in affected eye(s) three times daily
- Pediatric use: 1 drop in affected eye(s) 2 times daily for patients (4 weeks to 5 years age)
- Geriatric use: No overall differences in safety or effectiveness observed between elderly and younger patients
Interaction
- Potential drug interactions with high-dose salicylate therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of this product

- Bitter, sour, or unusual taste
- Blepharitis
- Dermatitis
- Dry eye
- Headache
- Ocular discomfort
- Nausea
- Pharyngitis
- Urticaria
- Rare instances of drug interactions with high-dose salicylate therapy
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Use during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or baby
Precautions & Warnings
- Topical administration of Azopres may cause systemic absorption
- Similar adverse reactions as seen with sulfonamides may occur with topical Azopres
- Caution in renal and hepatic impairment patients
Overdose Effects
- Electrolyte imbalance
- Development of acidosis state
- Possible nervous system effects may occur following oral administration of an overdose
