Indications
- Topical treatment of impetigo
- Treatment of folliculitis
- Treatment of furunculosis
Pharmacology
- Naturally occurring antibiotic
- Produced by fermentation using Pseudomonas fluorescens
- Active against Staphylococcus aureus
- Active against Streptococcus pyogenes
- Inhibits bacterial protein synthesis
- Bactericidal at concentrations achieved by topical administration
Dosage & Administration
- Apply 3 times daily for up to 10 days
- Established safety and effectiveness in the age range of 2 months to 16 years
- Supported by evidence from adequate and well-controlled studies in pediatric patients

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity reactions to Mupirocin or any components of the preparation

Precautions & Warnings
- Not for ophthalmic or intra-nasal use
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Avoid contact with eyes when used on the face
- Not suitable with cannulae or at the site of central venous cannulation
- Discontinue use in case of sensitization or severe local irritation
- Risk of dilution and reduction of antibacterial activity when mixed with other preparations
