Indications
- Treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
- Monotherapy for inadequately controlled patients
- Combination therapy with metformin
- Combination therapy with sulphonylurea and metformin
- Improving glycaemic control
Pharmacology
- Inhibitor of DPP-4 enzyme
- Increases active incretin hormones
- Stimulates insulin release from pancreatic beta cells
- Decreases glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells
Dosage & Administration
- Daily dosage of 5 mg
- Concomitant administration with metformin
- Consideration for lower sulphonylurea dose in combination therapy
- No dose adjustment required for renal impairment
- Can be taken with or without a meal
Interaction
- Weak competitive and mechanism-based inhibitor of CYP3A4
- Low risk for clinically meaningful interactions
- No clinically relevant effect on the pharmacokinetics of certain medications

- Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
