  • Afinitor is indicated in advanced Hormone Receptor-Positive, HER2-Negative Breast Cancer, Neuroendocrine Tumors, Renal Cell Carcinoma, Renal Angiomyolipoma With Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, Subependymal Giant Cell Astrocytoma, and for the prophylaxis of organ rejection in transplant patients.

ModeOfAction

  • Prevents allograft rejection
  • Inhibits proliferation of antigen-activated T cells
  • Forms complex with cytoplasmic protein FKBP-12
  • Inhibits FRAP function

DosageAdministration

  • Initial dose varies depending on transplant type
  • Recommended dose for indicated cancers is 10mg once daily
  • Administer consistently with or without food
  • Swallow whole with a glass of water

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to the active substance or other rapamycin derivatives
