Description
Lumona FT is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist used for prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma, acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB), and relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR). It is available in different dosages for adults, adolescents, and pediatric patients. Lumona FT exhibits a pharmacological mode of action by inhibiting the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor, which is correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma and allergic rhinitis. The product has specific dosage recommendations for patients with hepatic or renal insufficiency as well as for elderly use. It has been administered with other therapies routinely used in the prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma with no apparent increase in adverse reactions. The common side effects of Lumona FT include diarrhea, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, and skin reactions. It is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any of its components. Additionally, caution should be exercised when using Lumona FT during pregnancy and lactation. The medicine should not be used in the reversal of bronchospasm in acute asthma attacks, and appropriate rescue medication should be available for such situations. Lumona FT should not be used as monotherapy for the treatment and management of exercise-induced bronchospasm. The average duration of its effect is 24 hours. It should be stored in a cool and dry place below 30°C, protected from light and moisture, and kept out of reach of children.
