Indications
- Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy

Description
- Orally dissolving film designed to be applied on top of the tongue
- Dissolves within 20 seconds
- Active ingredient: Onstar base, the racemic form of Onstar
- Selective blocking agent of the serotonin 5-HT3 receptor type
Pharmacology
- Potent and highly selective 5HT3 receptor-antagonist
- Precise mode of action in the control of nausea and vomiting is not fully known
- Blocks initiation of vomiting reflex
- Mechanism of action in post-operative nausea and vomiting not fully known
Dosage
- Different dosage for chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, and postoperative nausea and vomiting for adults and pediatric patients
- Oral soluble film, tablet, orodispersible tablet, and injection options

- Oral soluble film application instructions
- No water required for dissolution or swallowing
Interaction
- Does not induce or inhibit the cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzyme system of the liver
- Metabolized by hepatic cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzymes
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the drug or its components
- Concomitant use of apomorphine
Side Effects
- Frequently reported adverse events: headache, constipation, diarrhea
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis, brochospasm, tachycardia, angina, hypokalemia, shortness of breath reported
- No evidence of extrapyramidal reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No evidence of impaired fertility or harm to the fetus in animal studies
- Cautious use in nursing women due to excretion in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Hypersensitivity reactions reported in patients with hypersensitivity to other selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonists
- Not a drug that stimulates gastric or intestinal peristalsis

- Dosage adjustment for patients with impaired renal function
