Indications
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of other infections like osteomyelitis, enteritis, endocarditis, urinary tract infection, meningitis, and septicaemia
- Prophylactic use during major surgical procedures
Pharmacology
- Activity against Gram-positive organisms including penicillinase producing strains
- Resistance to hydrolysis by penicillinase
- Gastric acid stability
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Inhibition of bacterial cell wall formation
- Interference with peptidoglycan synthesis
Dosage
- Oral administration for adults and children
- Parenteral administration for adults, elderly, and children
- Increased dosage for severe infections
- Administration 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Potential for increased level of Flustaph in blood with concurrent use of certain medications
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
Side Effects
- Common gastrointestinal side effects
- Rashes, urticaria, and purpura
- Fever, interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, and cholestatic jaundice

- Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed
- Excretion in human milk
- Caution during lactation

- Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction
- Caution in the treatment of patients with an allergic diathesis
