Composition
- Refined Soyabean Oil BP 10 gm
- Purified Egg Lecithin Ph. Gr. 1.2 gm
- Glycerol BP 2.25 gm
Pharmacology
- Prepared from refined soyabean oil
- Provides neutral triglycerides, predominantly unsaturated fatty acids
- Contains linoleic, oleic, and palmitic acids
- Formulated as a concentrated source of energy
- Provides basal phosphate requirements and vitamin E
Indications
- Preoperative and postoperative nutritional disturbances
- Nutritional disorders or disturbances of nitrogen balance due to intestinal diseases
- Burns to reduce nitrogen losses
- Prolonged unconsciousness when enteral feeding is not possible
- Impaired renal function
- Cachexia
- Essential fatty acid deficiency
Dosage
- Administered as part of Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN)
- Maximum recommended dosage for adults, children, and infants
- Correction of Essential Fatty Acid Deficiency (EFAD)
Administration
- Given by peripheral or central vein
- Compatible with simultaneous amino acid and/or glucose infusion
Interaction
- Potential interaction with insulin and heparin
Contraindications
- Severely disordered fat metabolism conditions
- Hypersensitivity to egg, soya, or peanut protein

Overdose effects
- Fat overload syndrome
- Characterized by bone marrow depression, anaemia, thrombocytopenia, hepatosplenomegaly, fever, fat infiltration, seizures, shock
- Reversible if infusion is discontinued

- Store at 15°C to 30°C in a dry place protected from light
