Pharmacology
- Proton pump inhibitor
- Suppression of gastric acid secretion

- 90% systemic bioavailability after repeated once daily dosing

Administration
- Swallowed whole and taken one hour before a meal (tablet or capsule)
- Instructions for Oral Suspension administration
- Preparation of IV Injection solution
- IV Injection must be administrated intravenously over a period of at least 3 minutes
Interaction
- Metabolized in the liver by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
- Not likely to inhibit CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6, 2E1 and 3A4
- Potentially interferes with CYP2C19
- Possible interference with the absorption of certain drugs
- No clinically significant interactions with specific drugs
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation

Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients not established
- No overall differences in safety and efficacy observed between the elderly and younger individuals
- No dosage adjustment recommended for patients with mild to moderate hepatic insufficiency
Overdose Effects
- Major signs of acute toxicity include reduced motor activity, changes in respiratory frequency, tremor, ataxia, and intermittent clonic convulsions
- No specific antidote known
- Treatment should be symptomatic and supportive
