Composition
- Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Mode of Action
- Aids in Calcium absorption from the GI tract
- Stimulates bone formation
- Ensures better absorption
Dosage & Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water to drink orally
- Taking with full stomach ensures better absorption
Interaction
- Reduced urinary excretion of calcium by thiazide diuretics
- Reduced calcium absorption by systemic corticosteroids
- Interference with absorption of tetracycline preparations by calcium carbonate
- Increased risk of toxicity of cardiac glycosides during hypercalcaemia
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Concomitant digoxin therapy

- Monitoring serum calcium levels and renal function during long-term treatment
- Caution in elderly patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics
- Monitoring of calcium and phosphate levels in patients with impairment of renal function
- Use with caution in immobilized patients with osteoporosis
- Consideration of soft tissue calcification risk
- Special caution in patients with severe renal insufficiency
- Caution in patients suffering from sarcoidosis
Overdose Effects
- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcaemia
- Symptoms of hypercalcaemia
- Irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification due to persistently high calcium levels
