Indications
- Disinfecting clean hands of doctors, nurses, and other personnel
- Disinfecting surgical instruments
- Disinfecting skin prior to surgery or invasive procedures
- Disinfecting wound dressings
Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal effect of chlorhexidine cation on bacterial cell walls
- Bacteriostatic effect at low concentrations
- Membrane disruption leading to cell death at high concentrations
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfecting clean hands: approximately 3 ml on hands, scrub until dried
- Disinfecting surgical instruments: approximately 5 ml, immerse for 2 minutes
- Disinfecting skin prior to surgery: approximately 3 ml with cotton, scrub until dried
- Disinfecting wound/wound dressing: approximately 3 ml with cotton, scrub until dried
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and anionic agents, may cause brown stains with hypochlorite bleaches

- Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any composition
