Indications

  • Add-on therapy for stable angina pectoris
  • Symptomatic treatment
  • Inadequately controlled by first-line antianginal therapies

Pharmacology

  • First 3-keto acyl CoA thiolase inhibitor
  • Metabolic anti-ischemic agent
  • Inhibition of fatty acid pathway
  • Activation of glucose pathway
  • Prevention of angina pectoris

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended dose of 35mg twice daily or 20mg thrice daily during meals
  • Assessment of treatment benefit after three months
  • Discontinuation in case of no treatment response

  • No interaction with specific drug classes

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to active substance or excipients
  • Parkinson's disease or symptoms
  • Severe renal impairment

Side Effects

  • Common side effects: dizziness, headache, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting, rash, pruritus, urticaria, asthenia

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • No data on use in pregnant women
  • Animal studies indicate no direct or indirect harmful effects
  • Preferable to avoid use during pregnancy
  • Unknown excretion in human milk
  • Risk to newborns/infants cannot be excluded
  • Not to be used during breastfeeding
