Dosage & Administration
- 400 mg Calcium Orotate: 2-3 tablets as an addition to daily diet
- 740 mg Calcium Orotate: 1-2 tablets as an addition to daily diet or as directed by a physician
Interaction
- Decreases absorption of biphosphonates
- Decreases absorption of quinolone antibiotics
- Decreases absorption of tetracycline antibiotics
- May decrease absorption of levothyroxine
- May decrease absorption of phenytoin
- May decrease absorption of tiludronate disodium
- Interaction with thiazide-type diuretics
- Increased risks of hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria with thiazide-type diuretics
- Interacts with aluminum- and magnesium-containing antacids
- Decreased calcium absorption with mineral oil and stimulant laxatives
- Causes calcium depletion and osteoporosis with glucocorticoids
- Reduces calcium by oral contraceptives and estrogen compounds
- Depletes calcium by anti-inflammatories and NSAIDs
- Depletes calcium by corticosteroids
Contraindications
- Incomplete or infrequent bowel movements
- Kidney stone
- Kidney disease
- Increased activity of the parathyroid gland
- High amount of Calcium in urine
- High amount of Calcium in the blood
- Extreme loss of body water
