Indications
- Steroid responsive inflammatory ocular conditions
- Chronic anterior uveitis
- Corneal injury from chemical radiation or thermal burns
- Penetration of foreign bodies
Pharmacology
- Bactericidal activity of Tobramycin
- Inhibition of normal protein synthesis in susceptible bacteria
- Action on ribosome causing bacterial misreading of messenger RNA
- Inhibition of phospholipase A2 by Dexamethasone
- Inhibition of chemo-tactic infiltration of neutrophils into the site of inflammation
Dosage & Administration
- Eye Drops: 3-5 times per day into the conjunctival sac
- Increased dosage during the initial 24 to 48 hours
- Eye Ointment: 3-4 times per day into the conjunctival sac
- Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness not established below the age of 2 years
Interaction
- No specific interaction studies performed with Torcin D eye drops
- Interval of 10 minutes between successive applications for concomitant therapy
Contraindications
- Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis
- Vaccinia and varicella
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication
Side Effects
- Hypersensitivity and localized ocular toxicity
- Lid itching, swelling and conjunctival erythema
- Elevation of intraocular pressure with possible development of glaucoma
- Optic nerve damage
- Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
- Delayed wound healing
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies the potent risk to the fetus
- Caution during nursing as systemic absorption to produce detectable quantities in human milk is unknown
Precautions & Warnings
- Consideration of fungal infections of the cornea after long-term steroid dosing
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms
- Risk of cross-sensitivity to other aminoglycoside antibiotics
Overdose Effects
- No known overdose through local administration
- Specific measures to reduce resorption in case of accidental oral intake
- No specific antidote

Storage Conditions
Store at room temperature. Close the bottle immediately after use. Do not use for longer than one month after opening the bottle.
