Indications
- Osteoarthritis (OA)

Function
- Potent, orally active cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) specific inhibitor
- Reduction of pain, inflammation, and fever
- Short-term treatment of moderate pain
- Decreased potential for gastric toxicity
- Decreased effects on platelet aggregation
Dosage
- Osteoarthritis: 30 mg once daily, increased to 60 mg if necessary
- Rheumatoid arthritis: 90 mg once daily
- Ankylosing spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
- Acute gouty arthritis: 120 mg once daily for 8 days
- Postoperative dental surgery pain: 90 mg once daily, maximum of 3 days
Interaction
- Medicine:
- Oral anticoagulants
- Diuretics, ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Antagonists
- Acetylsalicylic Acid
- Ciclosporin and tacrolimus
- Lithium
- Food & Others: Take without regards to meals
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or excipients
- Active peptic ulceration or GI bleeding
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Severe hepatic dysfunction
- Estimated renal creatinine clearance <30 ml/min

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended in women attempting to conceive

Precautions & Warnings
- Caution in patients at risk of GI complications
- Consideration for patients with significant cardiovascular risk factors
- Monitoring of renal function
- Exercise caution in patients with cardiac failure, left ventricular dysfunction, or hypertension
- Monitoring liver function if signs of hepatic insufficiency occur
- Discontinue at first appearance of hypersensitivity
- May mask fever and other signs of inflammation
- Caution when co-administering with warfarin or other oral anticoagulants
Overdose Effects
Did not result in significant toxicity up to 150 mg/day
