Indications
- Lower respiratory tract infections
- Upper respiratory tract infections

Pharmacology
- Readily absorbed orally
- Time to peak concentration 2.1 to 3.2 hours
- High concentration in phagocytes
- Biliary excretion as major route of elimination
Dosage
- Adult dosage: 500 mg once daily for 3 days
- Oral dosage for children based on body weight
- Intravenous dosage for specific infections
Administration
- Reconstitution procedure for suspension
- Should be taken at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after meal
Interaction
- Interaction with antacids
- Potential interactions with other medications like carbamazepine, cyclosporin, digoxin, ergot derivatives, methylprednisolone, theophylline, warfarin, terfenadine
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin or macrolide antibiotics
- Co-administration with ergot derivatives
- Patients with hepatic diseases
