Indications
- Cleansing and irrigating the skin
- Dirty wounds with added surfactant effect
Pharmacology
- Chlorhexidine as antiseptic and disinfectant
- Effective against wide range of bacteria, viruses, and fungi
- More active against Gram-positive bacteria
- Cetrimide as a quaternary ammonium disinfectant
- Bactericidal activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms
Dosage & Administration
- Rinse the area with water before application
- Apply minimum irrigation necessary to cover the wound area
- Thoroughly rinse post-application
- Paediatric use caution, particularly in premature infants
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine or cetrimide
- Avoid use on brain, meninges, eyes, or perforated eardrum
Side Effects
- Irritative skin reactions
- Hypersensitivity reactions to chlorhexidine
- Prolonging effect on wound healing process by cetrimide
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Limited data for pregnant and breastfeeding women
- Unlikely excretion into breast milk after topical usage

- Not isotonic and is haemolytic
- Restrict use to infection control and wound cleansing
Overdose Effects
- Unlikely systemic effects due to poor absorption
