Indications
- Rapid acting wide spectrum microbicidal preparation for disinfecting clean hands of doctors, nurses, and individuals
- Disinfection of surgical instruments
- Disinfection of skin prior to surgery or other invasive procedures
- Disinfection of wound dressing
Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
Bactericidal effect due to the binding of positively charged chlorhexidine cation to negatively charged bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- Disinfecting clean hands and contaminated materials by scrubbing both hands' full surface area until dried
- Disinfecting surgical instruments by immersing in a clean pot with the solution for 2 minutes
- Disinfecting skin prior to surgery or other invasive procedures by scrubbing with cotton until dried
- Disinfecting wounds or wound dressing by scrubbing with cotton until dried
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents; may cause brown stains in fabrics previously in contact with chlorhexidine solutions
Contraindications
Avoid use in patients with hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any of its components
