Indications

Pharmacology

Clobetasol Propionate is a very potent corticosteroid
Neomycin Sulphate is an antibiotic of the aminoglycoside type
Nystatin is an antifungal that kills fungi and yeasts by interfering with their cell membranes

Dosage & Administration

Adult dosage: Apply sparingly once or twice daily
Elderly usage caution in cases of decreased renal function
Children over 2 years old can use the same dose as adults

Interaction

Neomycin Sulphate can intensify and prolong the respiratory depressant effects of neuromuscular blocking agents following significant systemic absorption

Contraindications

Contraindicated in rosacea, acne vulgaris and perioral dermatitis
Primary cutaneous viral infections
Hypersensitivity to the preparation

Side Effects

Prolonged use can result in systemic absorption
Local atrophic changes in the skin
Reports of pigmentation changes and hypertrichosis with topical steroids

Pregnancy & Lactation

Neomycin's possible effect in pregnancy and lactation not well-documented
Clobetasol Propionate's safety not established in lactating mothers

Precautions & Warnings

Long-term continuous topical therapy should be avoided, particularly in infants and children
Care needed to ensure the preparation does not enter the eye
If applied to the eyelids, care is needed to ensure that the preparation does not enter the eye

Overdose Effects

Acute overdosage is very unlikely to occur
No overdose-related problem yet reported
