Indications
- Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections
- Treatment of respiratory tract infections
- Treatment of osteomyelitis
- Treatment of enteritis
- Prophylactic agent for surgery
Pharmacology
- Active against Gram-positive organisms
- Little activity against Gram-negative bacilli
- Inhibits cell wall formation of bacteria
- Bactericidal antibiotic
- Interferes with peptidoglycan synthesis
Dosage
- Adult oral dosage: 250 mg four times daily
- Children oral dosage: half of adult dose
- Adult intramuscular injection: 250 mg four times daily
- Children intravenous injection: half of adult dose
Administration
- Recommended to be taken orally 1 hour before meal
Interaction
- Concurrent use may increase blood levels of Flutam
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitive patients
