Pharmacology

Selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. Increases cGMP in smooth muscle cells, causing smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow into the corpus cavernosum. Also present in smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder wall. Smooth muscle relaxation may improve blood flow to the urinary tract and widen the opening of the bladder neck, resulting in improved voiding.

Dosage & Administration

  • Recommended starting dose for Erectile Dysfunction: 10 mg
  • Recommended dose for Benign prostatic hyperplasia: 5 mg taken daily
  • Recommended dose for Combined Erectile Dysfunction and Benign prostatic hyperplasia: 5 mg daily
