Indications
- Relief of psoriasis
- Relief of chronic atopic dermatitis
- Relief of neurodermatitis

Pharmacology
- Clobetasol Propionate as a high potency corticosteroid
- Clobetasol Propionate decreases inflammation
- Salicylic acid has keratolytic action
- Salicylic acid possesses antifungal and antibacterial activity
Dosage & Administration
- Apply a thin layer of ointment twice daily
- Rub in gently & completely
- Adequate maintenance therapy may require less frequent application
- Discontinue therapy when control is achieved
- Avoid use with occlusive dressing
- Not recommended for pediatric patients under 12 years of age
Interaction
- No reported interaction with Clobetasol Propionate
- Salicylic acid may increase absorption of other topically applied medicines
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Clobetasol Propionate
- Contraindicated in primary infected bacterial or fungal skin lesions without anti-infective agent
- Contraindicated in primary cutaneous viral infections
- Contraindicated in children under one year of age
- Salicylic Acid is contraindicated in patients with salicylate hyersensitivity
Side Effects
- Prolonged use can result in systemic absorption
- Local atrophy may occur with prolonged treatment
- Possible sensitivity reactions, drying and irritation when using Salicylic Acid
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Topical administration of corticosteroids to pregnant animals can cause fetal abnormalities
- Use during lactation should be considered with caution
- Salicylic Acid ointment should be used with caution during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Use with caution on lesions close to the eye
- Prolonged use over extensive areas may lead to systemic absorption
- Careful patient supervision is important in psoriasis treatment
- Avoid contact with broken or inflammed skin
- Salicylate toxicity may occur if applied to large areas of skin
Overdose Effects
- Acute overdosage is very unlikely
- Discontinue gradually in case of chronic overdosage
- Systemic salicylate poisoning symptoms include tinnitus and dizziness
