Indications
- Short-term treatment of moderate to severe melasma of the face
- Requires avoidance of sun exposure during treatment
- Use of sunscreen with at least SPF 30 recommended
Pharmacology
- Contains three active ingredients: Fluocinolone Acetonide, Hydroquinone, Tretinoin
- Mechanism of action in treating melasma is unknown
- Fluocinolone Acetonide is a corticosteroid for topical dermatological use
- Hydroquinone is a depigmenting agent interrupting melanin synthesis
- Tretinoin is a keratolytic agent
Dosage & Administration
- Applied once daily at night
- Applied at least 30 minutes before bedtime
- Gently wash face and neck with a mild cleanser before application
- Application to hyperpigmented areas of melasma with surrounding skin
- Use of sunscreen and protective clothing during the day
Interaction
- Avoid use of medicated or abrasive soaps, cosmetics with drying effects, high alcohol products, and keratolytic drugs
- Avoid concomitant use of medications with photosensitizing effects
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity, allergy, or intolerance to the product or its components
Side Effects
- Potential severe allergic reactions
- Possible skin reactions such as redness, peeling, burning, dryness, itching
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- May cause embryo-fetal death, altered fetal growth, congenital malformations, and potential neurologic deficits
- No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women
- Caution advised for use during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- May cause mild to moderate irritation
- Local irritation expected, does not preclude treatment
- Corticosteroid content may cause systemic absorption
- Cautious use in case of hypersensitivity
