Indications
- Effective relief from constipation in adults and children over 12 years of age
- Treatment of chronic constipation

Composition
- Each 25 ml concentrated oral solution contains Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Potassium Chloride
- Each sachet (Powder for Suspension) contains Polyethylene Glycol 3350, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Potassium Chloride
Pharmacology
- Macrogol (polyethylene glycol) exerts an osmotic action in the gut
- Increases stool volume triggering colon motility
- Facilitates defecation
- Electrolytes combined with Macrogol are exchanged across the intestinal barrier
Dosage & Administration
- Adults and children aged 12 years and above can take 1 sachet daily for constipation
- For fecal impaction, 8 sachets daily may be required
- No dosage change necessary for patients with renal insufficiency
- Sachets should be dissolved in water as per directions
- For oral solution, 25 ml added to 100 ml of water once daily for constipation
- For fecal impaction, 8 doses of 25 ml daily may be required
- Direction of use for oral solution as per instructions
Interaction
- Absorption of other medicinal products could be transiently reduced during use with Movifast
- Isolated reports of decreased efficacy with some concomitantly administered medicinal products
Contraindications
- Intestinal perforation or obstruction
- Ileus
- Severe inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract
- Toxic megacolon
- Hypersensitivity to the active substances

- Electrolyte disturbances (hyperkalaemia and hypokalaemia)
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Headache
- Peripheral edema
Pregnancy & Lactation
- No anticipated effects during pregnancy
- Can be used during pregnancy
- No anticipated effects on the breastfed newborn/infant
- Can be used during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Dosage should be divided for patients with impaired cardiovascular function
- Symptoms indicating shifts of fluid/electrolytes should be monitored
- Prolonged use with all laxatives is undesirable
- May lead to dependence
Overdose Effects
- Severe pain or distention can be treated by nasogastric aspiration
- Correction of electrolyte disturbances may be required for extensive fluid loss
