Indications

Pharmacology
- Combination of magaldrate and simethicone
- Magaldrate neutralizes gastric acid quickly
- Magaldrate decreases activity of pepsin in gastric secretion
- Simethicone enables gas bubbles to coalesce
Dosage & Administration
- 1-4 chewable tablets 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime
- 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) of suspension 20 to 60 minutes after meals and at bedtime
Interaction
- Contraindicated in patients taking any form of Tetracycline
- May cause reduced bioavailability or slower absorption of various drugs
Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to magnesium and aluminium
- Contraindicated in patients with impaired renal functions
Side Effects
- Gastrointestinal side-effects are uncommon
- Occasional diarrhea, constipation, or regurgitation with excessive consumption
Pregnancy & Lactation
- May be used in pregnancy if indicated but avoid excessive dosage
- May pass into breast milk but not reported to cause problems in nursing babies
Precautions & Warnings
- Care should be taken in decreased kidney function
- Care should be taken in hypophosphatemia
- Care should be taken in weak people
Overdose Effects
- Overdosage is a rare case
