Description
- Relieves symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Effective in treating symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria
DosageAndAdministration
- Dosage for adults and children 12 years and older: 60 mg twice daily or 120 mg once daily or 180 mg once daily
Indications
- Relief of symptoms associated with seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
- Relief of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology
- Acts as an inverse agonist of the H1 receptor
- Prevents activation of the receptor and downstream effects
Interaction
- Coadministration with erythromycin or ketoconazole can increase fexofenadine level
- No interaction with omeprazole observed
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to Fexofenadine Hydrochloride or any of its ingredients
SideEffects
- Common: headache, drowsiness, dizziness
- Uncommon: nausea, fatigue
- Rare: tachycardia, palpitations, diarrhea, rash, urticaria, pruritus
PregnancyLactation
- Not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women

- Limited data in older people, renally or hepatically impaired patients
- Patients with cardiovascular disease should be warned about potential adverse reactions
