Indications
- Inflammatory and degenerative forms of rheumatism
- Sprain
- Primary dysmenorrhoea
- Pre-operative medication for the prevention of pain

Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Children: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body wt. daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients: Lowest effective dosage is recommended
- Maximum daily dose
- For external use only
- Dosage for Diclofenac DT in milder cases
Interaction
- Increased plasma concentrations of lithium and digoxin
- Increased risk of haemorrhage with the combined use of diclofenac and anticoagulant therapy
- Diclofenac can be given together with oral antidiabetic agents without influencing their clinical effect
- Cases of nephrotoxicity have been reported in patients receiving cyclosporin and diclofenac concomitantly
- Serious toxicity when methotrexate and NSAIDs are given within 24 hours of each other
Contraindications
- Hypersensitive to any ingredient of the products
- Peptic ulcer
- Hypersensitivity to Diclofenac like other non-steroid anti-inflammatory agents
- Contra-indicated in asthmatic patient in whom attack with asthma, urticaria or acute rhinitis are precipitated by acetylsalicylic acid or by other drugs with prostaglandin synthetase inhibitor
- Not to be used under occlusive airtight dressings
Side Effects
- Mild, rare and transient adverse effects
- Epigastric pain
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions such as rash and eczema
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin and skin rash
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Employed only for compelling reasons during pregnancy
- Lowest effective dose should be used
- Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy
- Not recommended during pregnancy due to insufficient clinical data
- Insignificant quantity of Diclofenac may be detected in breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Close observation for peptic ulceration or gastrointestinal bleeding in patients under treatment
- In patients with advanced age should be kept under close observation
- Gel should not be allowed to come in contact with the eyes or mucous membranes
- Hands should be washed properly after application
- Not to be taken by mouth
