Indications
- Prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy
- Prevention and treatment of post-operative nausea and vomiting
- Prevention of radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting
Dosage
- Varies based on condition and age
- Oral soluble film does not require water to aid dissolution or swallowing
Administration
- Oral soluble film is dissolved on the tongue and swallowed with saliva
- Does not require water for dissolution or swallowing
Interaction
Metabolized by hepatic cytochrome P-450 drug-metabolizing enzymes
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients known to have hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components
Side Effects
- Common adverse events include headache, constipation, and diarrhea
- Rare cases of anaphylaxis, bronchospasm, and tachycardia reported
Pregnancy & Lactation
No adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women; excreted in the breast milk of rats
Precautions & Warnings
- Should not be used to replace nasogastric suction
- May mask progressive ileus and/or gastric distension
Use in Special Populations
- Same dosage recommendation for patients with impaired renal function
- In patients with severe hepatic impairment, a single maximal daily dose of 8 mg recommended
