Dosage & Administration

  • Elderly: 200mg tablet two or three times daily

  • Children 6-12 years: 6-9 mg/kg body weight two times daily
  • Doxophylline SR tablet for required daily dose of 400mg

Interactions

  • Avoid administration with other xanthine preparations
  • Limit consumption of caffeine-containing beverages and food
  • Exercise caution when administering with ephedrine or sympathomimetic drugs
  • Concurrent administration with specific drugs may affect hepatic clearance

Contraindications

  • Known hypersensitivity to the drug or other xanthine derivatives
  • Patients with acute myocardial infarction, hypotension, and during lactation
