Indications
- Primary or secondary topical infections
- Infected surgical incisions
- Infected decubitus or stasis ulcers
- Pyodermas
- Secondarily infected dermatoses
- Infected traumatic lesions
- Prevention of microbial contaminations in burns and incisions
- Degerming skin in hyperalimentation, the umbilical area or circumcision
- Prevent infections and promote wound healing in abrasions, minor cuts, and wounds
- Treatment and prevention of surface infections
- Treatment of seborrhea
- Preoperative and postoperative scrubbing and washing
- Disinfection of wounds, burns, lacerations, and abrasions
- Prophylactic anti-infective agent in house, hospital & office procedures
- Postoperative application to incisions
- As a preoperative swab in the mouth & throat
- Treatment of acute mucosal infections of the mouth and pharynx
- Oral hygiene prior to, during and after dental and oral surgery
Pharmacology
- Complex of iodine and povidone polymer

Interaction
- Interaction with strong alkali, sodium thiosulphate, sodium metabisulphite, thiomersal
- Exhibits hypothyroidic effect with concurrent lithium therapy
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Avoid regular use in patients with thyroid disorders or receiving lithium therapy
- Assess serum iodide levels in severely burnt patients
- Not for use in serious cavities and in children under 2 years
Side Effects
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Skin and mucous membranes irritation
- Potential systemic adverse effects in severe burns or large denuded areas
- Interference with thyroid function tests
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Not recommended for use during pregnancy due to iodine absorption
- Usually compatible with breastfeeding
- Avoid regular use in pregnant and lactating women
- No experience in human pregnancy/lactation for ophthalmic solution

- Prolonged exposure to wet solution may cause irritation or severe skin reactions
