Indications
- Vaginal Candidiasis

Triazole antifungal agent
Dosage & Administration
- Adults:
- Variable dosage based on specific indication and duration
- Single or multiple doses based on condition
- Child over 1 year:
- Dose based on specific indication and body weight
- Elderly patient: Normal dose if no renal impairment
- Renal Impairment:
- No adjustment in single dose therapy
- Modified dosage intervals for multiple dose therapy based on creatinine clearance
Interaction
- Potential interaction with warfarin, sulphonyl ureas, hydrochlorothiazide, phenytoin, rifampicin, oral contraceptives, cyclosporin, theophylline, food, cimetidine, antacids, total body irradiation
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to fluconazole or related triazole compounds
Side Effects
- Common:
- Nausea
- Abdominal discomfort
- Diarrhoea
- Flatulence
- Rare: Rash, anaphylaxis
Pregnancy & Lactation
Not recommended unless adequate contraception is employed
Precautions & Warnings
- Abnormalities in hepatic, renal, haematological, and other biochemical function tests
- Potential for hepatic necrosis
- Exfoliative cutaneous reactions, Stevens Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis
- Discontinue if rash develops in superficial fungal infection patients
- Not recommended during lactation
- Unlikely to impair ability to drive or use machinery
Use in Special Populations
