Flomox D 0.5%+0.1% (Ophthalmic Solution)

Indications

• Treatment of eye infections
• Prevention of inflammation after eye surgery

Composition

• Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg
• Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg

Pharmacology

• Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and IV
• Dexamethasone is anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative

Dosage & Administration

• Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for prevention of infection and post-surgical ocular inflammation
• Different dosages for patients undergoing cataract surgery and LASIK refractive surgery
• Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
• Glaucoma
• Inflammation in the eye caused by virus, fungi or mycobacteria

Side Effects

• Moxifloxacin: Conjunctivitis, decreased visual acuity, dry eye
• Dexamethasone: Visual acuity & field defects, cataract formation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Caution advised during pregnancy and nursing

Precautions & Warnings

• Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
• Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension and/or glaucoma

Use in Special Populations

• No change in dosage required for elderly patients
• Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients
