Indications

Pharmacology

Sterile topical ophthalmic solution
Synthetic broad spectrum bactericidal antibiotic
Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older
1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older
Safety for children <1 year not established

Interaction

Potential elevation of theophylline plasma concentrations
Potential interference with caffeine metabolism
Potential enhancement of oral anticoagulant effects

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin or other quinolones
Hypersensitivity to any components of the medication
