Active Ingredient

Pharmacology

  • Bactericidal antibiotic
  • Inhibits bacterial topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase enzymes

Dosage & Administration

  • 0.5% eye drop for adults and children 1 year and older
  • 1.5% eye drop for adults and children 6 years and older
  • Safety and effectiveness for children <1 year not established

Interaction

  • Potential systemic elevation of theophylline
  • Interference with caffeine metabolism
  • Enhanced effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin and its derivatives

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Levofloxacin or other quinolones
