Indications

  • Treatment of signs and symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis

Pharmacology

  • Antihistamine action
  • Blockade of histamine action
  • Inhibition of release of inflammatory mediators
  • Moderate protein binding in human serum

  • Mainly eliminated through urinary excretion

Dosage

  • 0.1% eye drops: one drop in each affected eye two times per day
  • 0.2% eye drops: one drop in the affected eye once a day
  • 0.7% eye drops: one drop in each affected eye once a day
  • Nasal spray for adults and adolescents: two sprays per nostril twice daily
  • Nasal spray for children 6 to 11 years: one spray per nostril twice daily
  • Tablet for adults: one tablet (5 mg) twice daily
  • Tablet for children 7 years old or over: one tablet (5 mg) twice daily

Precautions & Warnings

  • Not for use with red eyes while wearing contact lenses
  • Avoid treating contact lens related irritation with olopatadine eye drops
  • Benzalkonium chloride absorption by soft contact lenses
  • Wait 10 minutes before inserting contact lenses
  • Avoid spraying nasal spray into the eyes
  • Take tablet at the same time every day
  • Avoid taking more than the recommended dose
  • Do not stop taking without consulting a doctor

Use in Special Populations

  • No overall differences observed in geriatric use
